In
September 2003, I was artist-in-residence at the Acadia National Park
near Bar Harbor, Maine. Situated on the less-traveled Schoodic Peninsula,
the residency is part of an educational program the Park operates at
a former army base. The rocky shoreline and wooded mountain provided
some of my favorite subjects: seaweed and lichen. These humble subjects
in fact offer inspiring formal invention that I mostly captured in graphite.
